Cary Nasatir is the director of the Nasatir School of Percussion, a private teaching facility in Castro Valley, California. In addition to the school, Cary is an adjunct faculty member at Patten University in Oakland; percussion staff adviser to five Bay Area schools; and has published several articles on percussion for various music magazines and websites (inc. Conn-Selmer!). His book "Praise And Worship Drumming...A Guide To Playing In Church" was released from Hal Leonard Publishing in 2005. Mr. Nasatir studied percussion in his home town of Chicago with Roy C. Knapp, Haskell W. Harr, Jose Bethancourt, and Casper Boghosian, as well as conducting with Manual Piculas. Clinics and workshops include full percussion aimed at school-aged percussionists. Subjects covered include volume control, stick and mallet selection, and technique on auxiliary percussion instruments. For school district in-service sessions, Nasatir demonstrates proven professional techniques on the fine points of percussion. Music educators will receive hands-on pedagogical instruction in nine of the most important rudiments used in school literature including: Rolls, Flams, Drags and 4 Stroke Ruffs. Taking his techniques back to your percussion section will cause a difference in volume, tone, tempo, phrasing, interpretation, and clarity, while instilling confidence in your young percussionists. For schools with a faith-based curriculum, additional workshops are based around Carys book for drumset: "Praise and Worship Drumming...A Guide To Playing In Church. We SKYPE! Search for "nsopdrums"
