Ludwig Drums

From its humble beginnings in Chicago, Illinois to its present place at the center of the drumming world, A Century of The Most Famous Name in Drums chronicles the ongoing history of the Ludwig Drum Company. In this 100 year retrospective, The Ludwig Legacy unfolds through exclusive footage and interviews with the artists and craftsmen that helped create it.

"This was an exhaustive project," says Director of Combo Marketing, Kevin Packard, who directed the film. "We had to wade through about 40 hours of original interview footage, roughly 10 hours of archival footage, and thousands of photos and catalog pages to create this documentary. We also had to organize 5 different location shoots for the interviews, cull the artists together for the shoots, and take video gear to practically every gig we went to last year to get playing footage." In addition to the team at Hudson Music helping out with historical footage, many artists donated their own personal video footage and bootlegs to make the film more comprehensive.

The film debuted at a special premier for Ludwig Artists and family members at Cinema Fusion at the Anaheim Gardenwalk during NAMM 2009. Artists such as Jason Bonham, Nicko McBrain, Carmine Appice, Alan White, John Fred Young, Mike Marsh, Pat Petrillo, Jason McGerr, Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz, Jason Sutter, Bryan Hitt, and many more joined The Ludwig team for an exclusive peek finished product. A similar gathering occurred at the Chicago Vintage and Custom Drum Show, where the DVD made it's public debut.

Features include commentary from noted historians, collectors, and members of the Ludwig family and staff, as well as performances by key the players that built Ludwig into the Most Famous Name on Drums.
